Firstly, I'm clueless - apologies...

Confusion one: If I want to set up two XBOX's on the same network, will there be any issues or difficulties?

Confusion two: Can you get a remote control (as in a DVDs and TV type remote control) for the XBOX ONE that works like the controllers do? As in, you don't need the XBOX to be out and on display to work?

Multiple Xbox on the same network shouldn’t be a problem.
The controllers are RF not IR, so line of sight shouldn’t be required. Not sure about a more traditional remote for media playback only however.

You can also use voice commands instead of remote control.

Your phone can act as a remote too.

I've downloaded this app, but the only button that works is the "on/off" button... hehe

It is, but you can get IR extenders e.g.

Ah, yes, I had them before but this setup isn't suitable... hence me looking for a non IR solution.

Is using the controller such a hardship?
No line of sight needed either.

Not a hardship at all, just annoying because I invariably press 47 wrong buttons before finding the right one.
