Facebook message 'shelf life'

Received a message that had several different comments in it on Sat
As it was late and was reading it on my phone i thought i would catch it up on the PC the next morning.
But i cannot find it, nor remember who sent it!
Is there a way icluld check on what i received on Sat, or has it gone forever. Had a bit of info about my loco i could do with right now!!
I did mention a specific item on FB or a non FB forum,someone must have seen and sent me a FB thread about it, but cannot remember who or even the OP of the thread!
Am i chasing shadows anf go back to the beginning?

Did you interact with the message in anyway ? and was it in facebook .. or facebook messenger ?
If facebook messenger - then these should still be there.
If in facebook .. try looking in activity log ( on a PC , front page of your profile in the right corner of the background pic if you have one .. then look for activity you are tagged in .. others posts to your timeline etc.
If its just a random news item that appeared in your feed then its difficult

That's my pet hate about Facebook - the seemingly random way that posts are ordered. Setting it to "newest first" only lasts a day or two, as it whines and whines to make you put it back to default, then just does it when you ignore it. When I hit the wrong bit of the screen (usually because it's re-drawn something underneath and moved the prompts) there's little chance of getting back to the thing I was just about to read.
Although at the moment, I'm annoyed because it seems to be showing the same posts over and over again.
No, switching to the new layout doesn't help, that just moves things around to different places and runs very slowly.

I normally log in to facebook and scroll down looking for anything interesting. on the various forums i have joined.
This was put on, and i didnt make a note of what forum,.Yep i know
I can scroll through off of the lists, but was wondering if it was sent by a friend who saw it on a site i do not rread and shared/forwarded it!
Like you it is doing my head in trying to locate it via the search facility as it made good reading, but nothing comes up at all, even using 'search wordfs/phrases'
