I only need one airpod - but some problems ... !
Discussion
Being deaf in one ear since aged two I only need one airpod. So I bought just a Gen 1 one with the charging case on ebay.
I thought I would just be able to pair one airpod to my iphone and ipad but have since found out you need two to be in the case to pair them. From research on the web I understood you could have a Gen 1 in there to pair the pair of them then you give the other one back to whoever you borrowed it from and the remaining one will still work. So my daughter's friend came over and I borrowed his and paired them both with my phone, ipad and desktop iMac. Tested them on each device with YT vids etc and all good.
He went away again taking his airpods with him. As soon as he'd gone, the single one refused to work and wouldn't be recognised by the devices, so am I going to have to revisit a well-known auction site again to spend more on getting a left one that will forever be in the case and never used?
The mate took his left one down to the end of his garden out of range of the right one and his right one still worked when I rang him, so am I doing something wrong?
All help appreciated.

this is odd - I have a pair but frequently only use one as the batteries are failing in them and only last c.20mins now.
what version iOS is your iPhone/iPad on?
The iOS is up-to-date on both. I am presuming you do have TWO airpods though ... and leave ONE in the case. I only have ONE - and paired them with my devices using another one I borrowed. what version iOS is your iPhone/iPad on?
My mate has sent me his left one in the post today so I will get that tomorrow and have a play. His right one works even though his left one is currently in the care of Royal Mail.
