I am a bit out of touch with GPU's these days. Is it me or are they priced higher than the equivalents of 6 or 7 years ago? Is this increase Covid-related do we think? Are we expecting pricing to drop or will this now be the norm?

Anyhoo, Currently running an i5-3570K & a Nvidia GTX670. Both of these were top value picks back in 2012!

I do not intend to change the CPU yet as that involves new motherboard, RAM, fan etc.

So I am considering a mild upgrade of the GPU. Nothing too extravagant to be honest. 95% of my PC gaming is World of Warships. The above combo works surprisingly well at quite High in-game settings, but would love to max it out, as well as potential for more modern games.

Budget will be around £200 that is if I even need to spend that much. I am an Nvidia fan (Sorry!)

Anyone done similar & which GPU would you suggest? I am trying to get my head around the options. From what I can deduce I should be looking at a GTX 1650 or 1650 Super? Does that sound about right?

If you afford a little bit more you can get the 1660 OC which I know for sure will play WoW in the highest graphics settings.

Yes, I think so.

Personal preference would be to buy from Ebuyer, as they are a UK based company, but your opinions may differ.

Just ordered the above, but from Scan as they had stock. Along with a 6 pin to 8 pin PSU adapter as I think one will be required.

I think this is the graphics card I recently upgraded to (from a 470 I think). I do some rendering work and the difference has been huge!!

I used to run 2 x 470gtx cards and now only need the one 1660 which is happy to drive three 1080p monitors as well as doing the above rendering super quick.

It seems a bargain to me!

It does seem to be in the Value sweet spot.

Whenever I upgrade a GPU I always seem to spend around the £200 - £250 mark as I find anymore than that & the law of diminishing returns seems to kick in, more from the cost perspective!

I got GPU anxiety smile . . . so decided to up the budget & get the 1660 Super OC when it was £239.95 a couple of days ago & not as shown below.

I think the market for Hardware/Build your own is expensive now days. At the moment there is an increase in popularity of online gaming with platforms like steam and Sony/MS are at the end of cycles of existing consoles so naff.

Got my eye on systems for FS2020.
