Smart devices on shared WiFi?

I've just moved into an apartment which has Internet provided.

It has a shared router, and in each apartment a power socket unit with some login details on it.

I'm pretty clueless on networks, but I'm assuming these are all using the same network?
Is it safe to use smart devices on these? I'm assuming no one else in the block will be able to see them or my traffic?

One point to note is the password are interchangeable between each apartment network. I'm probably worried over nothing but I don't really want my neighbours being able to turn on my lights etc
