Hi all,
Can i call an Australian landline number from the UK using Whatsapp? I need to call the ATO and they say it should be possible, but my Iphone 7s doesn't allow it.

My initial thought would be no as a whatsapp call I think would be a data call, and not compatible with a normal landline, i could however be very wrong.

No

Skype is fairly economic for overseas calls if you have that

Other solutions are available of course just suggesting skype as you might already have it

Assume the ATO is taxation office? If so can you use the live chat?

Yes, but the country code needs to be in there.

There's also a peculiarity around an extra digit from Australia to UK, I think a 1 from memory, as when I was working over there I had to have the missus in my phone twice- once for Aus and once for ROW.

Going UK to Australia, 07123 456789 becomes 0061 7123 456789.

ETA: I misread the whole thing.

You can only call an instance of WhatsApp. The landline won't have it installed, so no.
