Can anyone enlighten me as to if this will work or not.

I want to buy a 3g datacard for use in my laptop.

I would however also like the 3g data connection for my dell pda. To do this I was going to buy an unlocked 3g phone from ebay, shove the sim from the card into it and then bluetooth to it from the pda.

Will this work?

Can you not bluetooth from the laptop to the pda & share the connection?

careful with a "3" phone, even if its unlocked, they ringfrnce the data & surfing so it can only connect to the three sites.

Check that this is lifted with an unlocked handset...

Interesting idea, however the main use for this would be where I don't have the laptop!

I would get a 3G phone and contract from say Vodafone who don't wall off their 3G access and get a bluetooth card for your laptop. I assume that your PDA has bluetooth?

I am using the bluetooth, phone and pda setup myself and surfing over 3G is great.

Can you not get a group tariff orange/o2/vodafone with two active sims then get an unlocked phone.

Then you don't have the hassle of sim swapping and its all still on one bill. You might get better data rate prices on a group tariff. I had a quick look at this a while ago and the pricing was definately biased towards groups
