first smart watch ? help

mrs has decided she needs a smart watch to work with her android phone

any pointers where to start looking , want something decent quality with a good battery life , what brands should we look at ?

anything to avoid when shopping for one?

Does she want a fitness watch with smart features or a normal smart watch?

If fitness focused then a Garmin of some kind would be my choice.

For more smart watch then I have heard good things about the Fossil Gen 5 watches.

I liked my Galaxy Watch which ran Tizen but there was a lack of apps so unless she has a Samsung phone then I'd go Wear OS.

If she isn't in too much of a rush for it, then I'm waiting for this to come to the UK.
It was supposed to be out here by now as it was released in China in March, but because of Covid, its launch has been put back with no availability date as yet.
Won't be as cheap as the Fossil, though - but will be feature packed.....
Been keeping an eye open for updates for weeks now.

dont need packed with fitness stuff , keen to keep a track on walking though

also mindfull some look a bit huge for a small womans wrist?
