A mate wants a new pc for home/gaming/music... are there any good deals about at the moment that anyone has spotted?

Thanks,

www.dell.co.uk usually have something good to offer, plus you can spec exactly what you want.

Hmm. Spec exactly what you want...

That is if you don't want an AMD processor (AMD64s are comfortably more bangs per buck than Intel at the moment) and you don't want to install your own OS (Linux, or perhaps you already own an XP licence) etc etc....

Yes but most people don't care what processor they have and in the numbers dell are buying them they are cheap.

If you want an AMD processor - and I can see the advantages of this - then Dell still aren't your people, though it is about time they sorted this out.

However, as davidd says, there are some great deals for good gaming machines, particularly if you need a good TFT screen, etc.

Thanks guys.

I'd tried dell and could get what I wanted at a decent price and just wondered if anyone else was selling a system and fantastic prices.

I've looked around now and will simply build my mate a system.

Mark

HP have apparently got some ridiculous offers at the moment.
