Fingerprint reader for desktop PC?
Discussion
I'm moving from a laptop to a desktop PC as my current work needs a much gruntier GPU.
One thing I'll miss is the built-in fingerprint scanner in the XPS. I've tried to find a suitable PC keyboard with built-in scanner, but the it looks like they're pretty uncommon. The Microsoft one looks nice but is out of stock everywhere. https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-gb/produc...
Any good suggestions? Another alternative is a keyboard with built-in USB ports and a fingerprint dongle like this.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eikon-Mini-USB-Fingerprin...

https://www.ballicom.co.uk/microsoft-ekz-00005-.p1... - and its a bit discounted
Alternatively, if its a W10 device, have think about adding a Windows Hello webcam onto it (i use a Logitech Brio). Facial recognition on a very old desktop works just as well as on the Surface Book 2 - lovely experience.

Win 10, so Webcam is a good shout. Facial recognition worries me a bit though!

It shouldn't, its just local biometrics. Your face isn't being beamed up to Big Brother, and it cant share faces between two devices.
What about this one, which plugs directly into a USB port?

Any recommendations for a keyboard with usb ports, then? I don't want my desk covered in trailing cables!
most pc's have front mounted USB ports, if its on the desk next to you, shouldn't be a huge problem. Hell just get a USB extender and blutack (higher tech solutions may also apply) it to your desk in a convenient position.
something like this.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-com-Black-USB-Ex...
to go with this.

Probably cheaper than a USB port dedicated keyboard etc, position it wherever you want.
