Apple Photos albums

[V8LM]

For some reason Apple Photos has lost most of my albums and reverted to a few old ones. This is now reflected on all my devices. Any idea how I get get them back?

The computers are backup using Timemachine. Is the album/folder structure held locally somewhere?

I 'think' all the photos are there.
