I've had this issue for a number of days now, making the machine run slow.

I've restarted (many times)
I've updated Windows
I've disabled Windows Search
I've disabled Defrag
I've run a malware scan - nothing found

That's the main things the articles tell me about, anything else I should try?

Do you mean your c drive is in constant 100% in task manager? Or c drive is full?

If its the former, it will show the process in the processes tab, filter the disk column by highest usage.

You've probably already done this but...

In the search, type Storage. Go into System Settings, Storage.

Switch Storage Sense on.

Change settings in Storage Sense to 1 day for both options.

Click Clean now.

Assuming you mean the "Disk Usage" is at 100% rather than the storage capacity....

What does Task Manager say is using the disk?

Yes, there's nothing in the list though, everything is basically zero.

I'll have a look at the idea above thanks.

I haven't, but I'm only using 10% of disk space. I don't really keep much on it.

Hmm, don't think I've even done anything there but now it seems to be dancing between 10 and 40odd% now so not sure what's going on.

Seems a bit better though.

My misunderstanding. I thought you had disk full.

Is this a mechanical hard disk or SSD?

I have noticed an issue recently which causes constant 100% Disk usage on windows 10 machines with Mechanical drives. I have yet to get to the bottom of it though.

100% disc activity would be indicative of the machine switching to disc based page files... is something hovering up all your available RAM, forcing the machine to start using the hard disc instead?

Have you tried stopping "Superfetch" in services?
Also double check ALL your drivers are up to date, especially display/ graphics related, even odd random ones like USB controllers. I downloaded a free tool that checked and updated them all.

What's telling you your disk is at 100%?

That was the other one in all the articles, I didn't get to it though.

Seems to be working again. Task manager says in the teens now. Not sure what I did to fix it though hehe

I've seen this on laptops where the user never shuts it down properly, they just open and close the lid. Repeatedly suspending windows seems to eventually screw it up.

Connect mains power and just leave it on for 2-3 hours

Its weird and seems to be a sporadic but fairly common thing on Windows 10. There does not seem to be a single cause or remedy that I have found! Have had laptops do it right out the box to 10 year old Win 7 up grades randomly starting to do it.

I think its driver related, but not sure why lol
