Moving photos from mobile phone gallery on to SD card
Discussion
Hi Folks
I have an A3 Samsung Galaxy 2017 edition phone. I want to transfer some of my photos from the gallery to the SD card in order to free up space. However, Instead of moving over, the images get copied on to the card, so I'm ending up with 2 copies.
Can someone kindly let me know here I am going wrong?
Thank you

Use the move function instead of copy in the file manager app.
I would let Google Photos backup all your photos first though before you start messing around with them. That way you have a safe backup. Then you can access your photos anywhere, even if you lose your phone.
If you put them all on an SD, they are gone if you lose your phone
Is there a particular reason you want them on an SD card? They fail more often than Googles cloud does.

I think they will be safe in Google photos, certainly much safer than just on your phone. Every couple of months I use takeout from google to download all my photos from google photos to a drive on my pc then up to one drive so I have a couple of copies in the cloud, one on my pc and then all on my phones so card.

The problem that I have now is - How do I transfer the photos from my phone to the laptop?
I have tried looking on Youtube but no success.
Thank You
Connect your phone to your laptop using the usb cable, then go in my computer on your laptop.I have tried looking on Youtube but no success.

Your phone should show up as a new drive.
Double click it and then browse to your photos folder within your phone.
Select the photos you want to transfer or press ctrl & A to select all the photos at once.
Right click on one of the photos then press either cut(move) or copy on the menu that pops up.
Go to a folder within your laptop that you want to move the photos to and press ctrl & v to paste all the photos to the folder in your laptop.
Job done.
