Miniature free sat box or DVR?
Discussion
Hey, I have looked online but can't find anything but surely this thing must have been invented by now. I have a Samsung smart tv on the wall and used to have Sky TV. I dont have an external aerial but have the sky dish so I want freesat. My TV appears to be freeview only and as its on the wall I do not want a bulky freesat box or DVR. Have the famous 'they' invented a miniature freesat box for wall mounted tvs? So I can just tuck it away somewhere? If so is there an option to plug an old hard drive in via USB for recording?
If none of this is real and will never happen please tell me. also if you know of another way to do this that doesn't involve streaming or an external roof aerial let me know too. Thanks everybody!

Do you actually want Freesat or are you just choosing that as you already have a dish?
There aren't any minature FS receivers & recording on a HDD attached to a TV is a poor option, for several reasons. It works, but it's a kludge. A stand-alone recorder such as those from Humax is a much better option. Currently Freesat recorders are difficult to find since Humax stopped making them but Freeview recorders are much easier to find.
Depending on where your local terrestrial transmitter is you might be able to install an aerial near to the dish & use one of the cables currently running to the LNB (you can extend it if necessary). Plug this into your TV or a Freeview recorder located where your Sky box was & you're up & running.
