Hi All

I was TUPE'd a few years back, and now the service is TUPE'ing back (as am I). However, my current employer is not allowing my work emails to be saved as PST files, despite these being need to continue the service back with my original employer.

They are not against the idea in principle, it's just that the automatically applied restrictions prevent the saving of PST files, and they just cannot be bothered to make the necessary temporary change to permit.

Anyway, if I drag and drop into Windows Explorer (which I can back up to an agreed encrypted drive), I know I will lose all of the data (i.e. when sent, received etc). Also, there are tens of thousand, all files neatly in Outlook Mailbox Folders!

Anyone have any ideas?

Much appreciated.

Set up a gmail account in Outlook, copy the email folders from work to gmail?

This has to be one for your new employer - they need to put pressure on your current employer to implement the transfer as part of the change. Have you made them aware of the issue?

If you do anything yourself to exfiltrate this data you're setting yourself up for a lot of potential trouble.

Thank you. Noted the possible risk - unfortunately the new employer doesn't have the time to tackle this, albeit it would have a serious impact on the service.

Is it possible to drag folders from one window with one Outlook Account, into another with a personal account?

Thanks.

I work in IT and assuming this is just a Group Policy setting it would probably take 10 minutes (if that) for them to do something that would allow you to work around it.

Escalate and turn it into a business question rather than an IT one as IT types can have a bit of a habit of saying "no" when if it comes in via a different channel it may get a bit more of a response.

Can you get your old employer to export the mailbox from Exchange - still a PST, and the task will be done on a server, that hopefully doesnt have the "block PST" GPO on it?
