Any recommendations? GPS device will track a caravan.

Cheers

I use a giffgaff one, but not with a Goodybag, just "normal" credit.

£20 has lasted me years of 60mile commutes.

Three do a data SIM with 200MB free each month. I've had one in a tablet for the odd email check for a couple of years now and it works without problem. Three link.

This smile You can also use it in a phone to make calls and messages. I'm not a huge data user so this sim saves me a fortune, as i'm 90% on wifi, and when i'm not the 200mb free does me for out and about!

Be careful with 3, as some basic (cheap) trackers only use the 2G network. 3 only use 3+4G.

If your tracker uses 3G, then no problem.

I use 1p mobile for my cheapo tracker, 1p a MB or text.

Hi, what tracker do you use as I've a cheap ebay 1 and it seems to eat data up.

One of these - https://www.amazon.co.uk/REWIRE-SECURITY-102-NANO-...

I've had it ages, so I'm not entirely sure what settings I used.

I think it was something along the lines of updating every 20secs when motion detected. All other times it's just sleeping.

Have a look at ThingsMobile. They do SIMs which work with multiple networks (and countries). I use one for my alarm system and it's much cheaper than a normal SIM subscription.

I have this one https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07KK8MXWD/r...

As above, it seems dorment until you poke it via the app or SMS it for a status update. 4 days and the battery is still 100%.

Does that report to GPSLive.co.uk?

How much do you pay for the subscription?

No, the vendor has it's own portal mytkstar.net where you can track multiple trackers. There is a mobile app which allows you to set geofences, look at historical routing. I'm not an expert in GPS trackers and so I'm unsure whether this is enterprise-class or not

No subscription, just the PAYG sim for data and/or SMS.

I use it for our caravan meaning I get triggers if it moves and I can track it. Battery life is important to me because it'll spend weeks in storage. 90 days it claims.

ETA: If yo have questions, I will try and answer them. How do you onboard a device onto GPSLive? Do you just need an IMEI ?

Just the IMEI & phone number.

It's £20 a year for the subscription (£35 for two years) but when I bought it, they were doing free lifetime subscription.

Their software only allows 5 years, so i have to email them every 5 years to remind them to extend it. Never had an issue.
