I have a Campark wildlife camera
It runs on 8 AA batteries which it eats at an alarming rate!! when power drops to about 70% the Infra red night mode doesn't work
Now this is where i am having problems

I was told by the maker that a 6V 2A DC supply would cure the problem,
I also have it on a 15m extension lead

Questions Why only 6V when the batts are giving it 12V?
Will the voltage drop over 15m wiring?
I did notice that even if i take 4 batts out it still turns on, so running on 6V!!

Does the DC feed override the battery use or do i have to remove the batts?

Sorry to be a PITA AGAIN!!!

I expect the 2nd bank of 4 batteries are wired in parallel and is necessary as otherwise the battery life would be even more woeful.

Either that or the 2nd bank feeds a separate set of components and the power input is wired to both.

Perhaps the batteries are configured as 2 x 4 battery packs, wired together in parallel.

4 x 1.5v = 6v per pack, paralleled up to give the same 6v but twice the capacity.
