Got a weird problem;

I can access the 4G min-hub have provided on my phone (iPhone/Safari) by going straight to the IP address.

If I try to do the same thing on my MBP, using safari, firefox or brave, i get the following:

This site can’t be reached minihub.wifi’s server IP address could not be found.

Any ideas how to get to it from the MBP, please?

Have you got a web proxy server configured on the MBP?

Well I haven't consciously turned one on - how would I check?

When you say that you're accessing the 4G hub's IP address, do you mean minihub.wifi or an actual IP address such as 192.168.1.1?

If the latter, I'd guess that you're successfully connecting to the hub, then the hub's web server is redirecting the browser to another page on minihub.wifi. That will only work if the Mac is configured to use the 4G hub as its DNS server, so it can look up the IP address of that fake domain name. Is the Mac connecting directly to the 4G hub's Wifi network? Have you configured the Mac to use a specific DNS server instead of letting it use the settings it receives from the hub via DHCP? Are you using anything else that could interfere with DNS, such as a VPN on the Mac or another computer or router running its own DNS server?

In order as best I can;
Actual IP address - if I type in 192.168.1.1 on safari on my iPhone, it finds minihub.wifi as a page.
Same on the mac results in page not found.
Yes mac is connected to the minicab's wifi - all other internet functions fine (if slow)
I have never played with DNS settings on the mac, so whatever it came with back in 2013 ;-)
No VPN running (installed, but disconnected).
As far as I can tell, the mac thinks 192.168.1.1 is the router:
