I do surveys and use pics that I have taken on my iPhone. I use my Mac, I drag the pics from the Photos App into the body of the email in Mac Mail. I can then mark them up if required etc.

I want to remove the metadata/EXIF from the photos so the recipient cannot see it if they look. Can anyone tell me how I can easily do this?

Open it up in something like GIMP & re-save with the "preserve EXIT data" unticked.

Thanks.

I was trying to avoid having to do something like that as it is another process to go through. Ideally I wanted to see if there was a way of 'automating it' or if there was a hidden setting I could use.

Is there a particular bit of metadata you don’t want exported?

If you use File > Export in Photos there are options to include or not Title, Keywords, Description and Location. The technical photographic details are still included however.

Edited to remove erroneous advice!

I use a good free program called ImageOptim for this. It has a finder plugin so I can just drag the file onto it which then compresses and removes all the metadata. Would probably add an extra step though.

I'd do this in bulk from the command line using exiftool, you can then do a whole load of photos in one go without having to open each one in Preview or The Gimp or whatever.

Mainly the date and time. But other stuff like phone type etc is not really stuff I want to share.

Thanks, have downloaded. It won't let me drag and drop from the Photos App, does this work for you?

Can't see where to do this in Preview?

Thanks, really looking for an option for Mac, not sure if that will help once the pic has been transferred to my Mac via photo stream?

Nor can I! Apologies, I read somewhere it could, but it seems you can only view metadata in Preview. I use other apps for all captioning and metadata management (Photo Mechanic - but that's overkill for what you want) so was going on hearsay.

I did check and found a guide about deleting the data once opened , however it won't delete, maybe from an older version of OS.
