Really looking forward to this , I've always used basic Samsung tablets and liked them , as I watch a lot of films the fact that's it's hd and got decent speakers has got me grinning , anyone else taking the plunge ?
Like the look of this too, but aren't all devices HD these days?I'm thinking about ordering one to replace my slow and aging Nexus 9 for couch surfing, email and playing 8 Ball Pool. Then I keep thinking that I should just get an iPad Air or maybe stump up for an iPad Pro for similar money. I'd prefer Android, but never been a fan of Samsung's android and either stuck with vanilla Android or Sony's lightly sprinkled Android on phones. Or just wait 'til serial upgraders start listing their S6 tabs on eBay. I can't decide so I'm doing nothing until I can try one in a shop somewhere. Whichever tablet I get, it must have a 2560x1600 or better display and be somewhere around 4:3 or 3:2 aspect ratio.

Its a tricky one. Samsung's hardware, screens in particular, are second to none....Android tablets though, are pretty much a dead duck these days. Google themselves have moved onto ChromeOS, and it seems Samsung seems to be the company keeping the whole Android tablet thing on life support, but its pointless because their own masters have deserted them

I've got an iPad Pro even though I prefer Android, because as far as tablet type experience goes, iOS is leagues ahead of Android. If you go for an Android tablet, just as in the past, you'll find flakey apps designed for phone screens blown up, as has always been the case.
Depends what you want to do with it, but at the prices these are going for, if you want less restrictions than on iOS, then you might be as well off with a Windows machine, like a Surface Pro.

Thanks for that. It mirrors my own thinking. I'm not sure I'd consider a Surface if they just run Windows. I'd rather use a proper PC, or a Mac. I know it's just a game, but 8 Ball Pool is the only game I play. And I play it often because I'm good at it and yet it's always a challenge. It keeps hanging and crashing on my sluggish Nexus 9 but runs perfectly on my Xperia XZ1. But I can't play on such a small screen so I try to run it on my tablet and 1 in 3 attempts it will load and run smoothly enough to play a single frame. After which it force closes. I do have an iPhone 7 as a work phone and use it in preference to my Xperia for Apple Pay which makes it easy to store mum's credit and debit cards on it securely. I do all her shopping as she is housebound and it makes it so much easier. So iOS isn't alien to me and I may eventually update to a more modern iPhone despite my long preference for Android ever since I had a Motorola Milestone as my first smartphone....LunarOne said:

Funny you say that, me and mrs have clocked up HOURS on this game playing each other, and its probably the only reason I hang on to my tired second gen iPad Pro! It's so addictive isn't it?
Maybe consider getting a cheap second hand standard iPad just for that, I'm sure you could get a usable device for under 200 quid.
