Was my lads birthday yesterday and we got him a fire 7 tablet. We sorted it all yesterday, set him up a kids profile and downloaded a few games on our side, added them to his side etc and all was well with the world. He’s used some of those games on his side this morning.

We just added another app to our side, went in to his side to ‘share’ it with him, ticked it and when we went back to the home screen of his side, everything has gone!

I’ve been through everything and can’t find a bloody thing wrong with it - any ideas? Below is what the home screen and shared content things look like, all of the ones he had on there are still ticked, but pressing done just goes back to the home page with none of them on there frown

SOLVED!! Within seconds of posting this, I figured it out!

As per usual, was something completely simple - it was set to only allow 2 hours on apps on his side and we’d all been having a play today and gone over that.

Bit silly that it doesn’t tell you that’s why it’s not working, but now we know!

You're better off settling the times that the tablet can be used within then setting your max permitted screen time per day - when time's up it says something like 'all done for today'. But it really is a clunky system to set-up.

It is very clunky! He’s had our 9-year old iPad for a year or two after we replaced that and no issues telling him when enough is enough (and him listening, to be fair!), but this seems to lend itself to a bit more freedom for him to be able to use it when he feels it’s right and to be grown up enough to decide himself without us having to get involved, but still has that backstop there to do it without it getting OTT.

For £50, I’ve got to say it’s a pretty sharp bit of kit. I’ll be sticking with Apple myself though..!
