Cheapest WAy to hold on to landline

I have a phone number that I do not use at te moment but would like to hold on to, anyone know of a cheap way?

Open a basic account with sipgate and transfer the number to them. One off charge of £30 for the transfer and sipgate basic is free. Then, dial the number from your mobile once every 3 months to keep it active.

Download the GS Wave lite app and use that to connect to the service GS Wave will happily "ring" on the phone you rang it from (it's weird)

Your physical landline will terminate when the transfer completes.
