I have been using Yahoo Mail for some time. The annoying thing - for me - is that in the empty 'mail boxes', drafts, spam, junk, deleted etc, I normally get videos of American politicians playing - sometimes Donald Trump! Which i find very irritating.

How can I stop it, or change it to something more soothing?

Gmail keeps telling me I can't have the name I want.

Plus Lady Monk is not keen on the idea of switching. Sigh.

Choose a different name then.

Or maybe look at registering your own domain name and use that with something like Gmail.

Do you pay for your Yahoo mail?

I think I do - a small sum - and I don't have anything appearing that shouldn't.

My Yahoo is free.

When your spam of drafts folders are empty what appears on the screen. At the moment, I have The President of The Yonited States.

And I would really rather I didn't.

I realise this is, as they say, a first world problem, and I can very quickly click on something else, but I wish it were different. If the answer is "no you can't" then I will have to put up with it.

I have just had one of my famous brain waves! Why don't I leave one un-deleted item in each folder?

Because I have used Yahoo mail since the dawn of time, it's my default email address - despite having Gmail too. I pay £2 a month for the 'pro' mail service. The benefit is that I have no ad messages and spam management seems better (but have no way of truly knowing).

When my spam, draft, waste bin or whatever are empty, they're just empty. I have no video message or anything else.

Rather than using the website use it as an iMap account and view it through outlook or the native email client on your phone/tablet.

No more of those videos.

My Gmail account pulls email from my old yahoo account. Been that way for nearly a decade, maybe try that?

As I said earlier, I realise that it's a first world problem.

I have a number of options.

I could leave one item in each folder, so that would be there instead of the video.
I could simply hover the pointer over the title of the folder, that will tell me if the folder is empty, or not.

In the grand scheme of things, I am sure there is greater suffering than mine, somewhere in the world.
