IOS back up won’t restore WhatsApp

Hi all,

I received a replacement phone through insurance as mine broke. I’ve backed up my old phone and returned to insurance comp.

All things have backed up via iCloud however it seems WhatsApp media hasn’t. I have all the picture well majority of them from 2018 to now. However the pictures are no longer in WhatsApp. My WhatsApp back up mysteriously went from circa 1.9gb to 43mb after I restored the new handset from iCloud

Does anyone have any ideas to what is up? Or any ideas how to restore the media back into the WhatsApp? I called apple and they’ve got no idea!

I’m only concerned about one group chat which I have had since 2015 and really would like the media back as there are some irreplaceable memories init. Happy to throw some beer tokens if anyone can assist.

Hi bud,

Thanks for that unfortunately that doesn’t seem to work, the only thing WhatsApp have told me is if you can, get someone to export the chat.

It’s a shame that technology sometimes fails. No one can really help either to be honest which is annoying.

My what’s app back up in iCloud went from 1.8gb down to 781mb which is interesting
