Just upgraded my iPaq/TT3 to 5 and got to admit not that impressed after 1 day of using.

Road names are a nice touch but menu structure is a it messy...may be i am too used to TT3 !!!

Any one else tried it yet and what are your thoughts ???

I've upgraded to v.5 from TomTom3 running on an iMate Jam.

So far I rate it as much better-
*Faster
*Road names on the map are useful.
*Full post-code look-up.
*Full European maps without having to spend extra

On my combination (HP2210 + wired GPS), the position update seems to lag behind my real-world positoin by a few seconds: just long enough to miss turnings.

I also really miss the ability to log the GPS locations for later review in Autoroute. This was really useful for reviewing where I'd been when out exploring.

Currently contemplating putting version three back on and living with the older maps.

I've had version 5 for a week now and think it's better in almost every area personally.

Got mine last thursday running on an RX3715. Last tomtom software was on my psion 5. Used the traffic updates going to north wales on saturday - no traffic anyway, but was good to check on the way.

I think it's very good!

Get POI edit and keep them uptodate automagically.

I've had some issues with TT5 mainly with the slight delay. To get it to scroll properly then you have to fiddle with the poi stuff. Even though I have done that it is stioll very slightly off at complex unctions buit this is something I can live with.

I agree about the menus but you can alter them.

Go here..

www.skux.net/tomtom/menubuilder/index.php

Set the menus as you want.

This will create a file called 'tomtom.mnu'

In the root of you PDA you will have a directory called tomtom, create a subdirectory called sdkregistry and copy the tomtom.mnu file in there. Restart tomtom and your menus will be changed!

Worked for me!

For lots of other good stuff take a look at.

PS don't buy the tomtom speedcamera stuff, use the free database on pocketgps it is better
