Yes, I know that iPhones eat batteries.

My battery health is 92% and no apps seem to be particularly to blame. But here I am at 10:00 with 67% of battery left.

My screen isn't super bright or anything.

I've looked at every Google response to "make your iPhone battery last longer" and all the usual stuff I have done' I think.

Ideas chaps please.

I know you say it's 67% at 10:00, but how long since the last charge (i.e. did it stop charging 1 or 10 hours ago?)

I don't use Duolingo, but have you been using it much recently (I think the battery data shows both the last 24 hours and last 10 days usage), or let it use data or left it doing something in the background?

Do you have the battery level graph with the charge data? Maybe it only charged to 80%.

Taken off full charge at 07:40. I use Duolingo daily for 15 minutes or so.

Seems a lot then.

I've just installed it and done a 15 minute German lesson, and it's used 2% of the battery (i.e. gone from 100% to 94%, but battery monitor says Duolingo made up 32% of the usage, WhatsApp made 46%).

Couldn't see any background processes when it's closed though - and haven't allowed it to use the microphone or speech recognition.

I’ve just had the low battery warning. I’ve been at football all morning, so little usage.

Have you got Bluetooth turned on? My iPhone 8 (bought in October 2018) is on 90% capacity and was typically down to 10-20% by bed time. After turning Bluetooth off it's now down to about 50% by bedtime.

Let it drain completely and restart, it may reset the battery memory.

Although the last time I did that, it went from 50% to 10% in about an hour and then took 4 hours to use the other 10%.

I changed the battery in my 6s yesterday. For once it was just like the YouTube videos said, an absolute breeze. Mine is a bit older - 4 years I think, but the battery has been dying for a while. It claimed to be 80% OK, but it didn’t last a day of negligible use. It now been off the charger for 24 hours and is still at 70%.

The replacement battery claims to have 25% more capacity than the original.

Perhaps that’s the answer. Will run it in to the phone shop.

Less than £20 will get a battery and relevant tools. It’s a 30 min job if you’re confident.

I cannot be bothered and the chances of me messing it up are greater than someone doing it all day

£12 gets you the 25% extra battery on eBay and all the tools needed.

Okey dokey. New battery fitted and it's still dying really quickly.

Before changing the battery the chap said it would be the battery or motherboard.

As I mentioned to someone elsewhere, it's probably your Tristar (IC) board. Fast drain, heating up, short battery life on a good battery are all possible affects.
