Strange broadband/cabling issue
Discussion
Hi all,
Had EE upto 76 for 2+ years no issues, joined Vodafone upto 63 in preperation for Gigafast being available (cables have been down 3 months now), that was working well for a few weeks then my 6 month old puppy (at the time) decided he was going to chew through the skirting board and cabling. So I bodged the cable back together and off we went but the connection was very unstable.
So a week ago the missus dad come over who used to be a BT technician, he's installed a brand new cable from where the cabling actually comes into the house all the way to the master socket (Openreach moved the master socket about 4 years ago), all working well! but every time the dogs go near the front window the internet goes off (no connection in router admin panel). The cabling goes under the bottom of the window, its tucked under the laminate flooring with a plastic cover over it.
So I've taken the cover off this morning and, nothing obvious to me! If I touch the cable etc its still connected but the second the dogs go round there, off it goes. Doing my head in now, trying to work 12 hour shifts from home. I was expecting the cable to be tight somewhere so every time they put pressure on it, it pulls tight but that isn't the case.
Wish Gigafast would hurry up so can get rid of this wiring!

So the master socket is to the left of picture 1, to the right of picture 2 the cabling then goes back onto skirting board and then through the wall to the outside world.
Checked the master socket as well, all nice and sturdy. No loose connections etc.

I will use a birds eye view of the house to try to explain.

The red dot is where the cabling comes into the house, originally that was the master socket. Then the gold colour line was an extension that goes into the corner of living room where the green dot is.
A few years ago openreach came out to fix a crackly phone line, they rewired where it comes in the house, but they moved the master socket to the green dot, so it used the existing extension to connect the old master socket and the new one.
The dog chewed the gold coloured line, that has been replaced so its all completely new between red and green.

The only thing I can think of is, if the dogs are chipped maybe their RFID tags are somehow causing a disturbance.
After a quick search it seems RFID definitely does cause interference in some circumtances:

You could do a quick test by putting some silver foil down over the cable, it might act as a shield when the dogs are near. If not, either silver foil is a crap shield or the dogs are actually robots.

Do you have any extension plugged into the master?
If so the first thing I would do is take the face plate off the master to disconnect the extension temporarily and plug the router directly into the socket behind the faceplate.
If that doesn’t fix the issue I would look at replacing the new cable run with new, shielded cable.

Honestly burst out laughing at that picture and look like a tube because iv meant to be working hahaMy tv used to loose all aerial signal as soon as I turned my playstation on. Got a more expensive hdmi with more shielding and it never lost it again. Wrap in tinfoil.
The strength of RF interference needed to disrupt adsl would be absolutely crazy to be coming from anything in your house, let alone a pet.
If I was going to go down this rabbit hole, I'd be wondering if the dog had a thick coat that was particularly prone to static?
But I'm not so I am sticking with it's DNS.
