It's a great idea and I wanted to get one of their modem/router things but reading their forum the software/OS is a bit crap.

RouterOS? It’s closer to something like Cisco IOS than the home user type stuff that most people are used to I.e. it’s very powerful but I like it. I have a few of their routers and AP’s out there doing well.

The V7 of their OS, to be precise. If you go by what their forums say, it's apparently been a bit of a disaster which they still haven't managed to fix. Majority either don't upgrade or avoid buying. I'm in the latter group.

V7 is still in beta, no? 6 point something is the current version.

One place I worked at had hundreds, maybe thousands of their routers, most of them at clients sites, and they are cheap rubbish, with dodgy software, and bad support - Not fit for enterprise environments.

At least it’s not TP Link hehe I think the thing is, you have to consider the price point. They’re not Cisco, Aruba, even Ubiquiti money, but you’re getting a lot of the power.

They did make some poor decisions in the past - for example default admin/blank password and no firewall out of the box. How many people fumbled to get it working and left it like that, quite a lot. But that’s the price point they are at.

I have used one to get 4G into a remote house, think it was an SXT. They work very well. Downside is the SIM and router are inside the unit, so if it's up on a pole or wall outside it makes access difficult.

As said the OS is not consumer level, so you need a bit of IT knowledge to set it up, there are plenty of online tutorials so if you're interested it's easy to get up and running.

For £150 they are good value compared to a separate 4G router and antenna etc. Think they do a faster cat6 unit for a few more £

Don't think it is, recently launched devices come with it (v7) from factory.
