Any CCTV Gurus in here? smile

For the past few years we have had a 4 camera CCTV system running through a Hikvision hard drive box.

Everything has been working fine until a week or so, but now when I try to watch a playback on my office computer the screen is blank, but there is a message saying we need to "Click here to add a plug in" but close the browser first.

I Click the message, then after a couple of seconds a message says "finished".

I restart the computer but the "plug in" message is still there and the playback screen blank.

The only thing is we renewed our contract with BT a couple of weeks ago, and as part of the new deal they sent a new digital? upgraded modem, and this problem seems to have started since then, unless it's a co-incidence.

I seem to remember my computer guy saying the box only ran on Firefox if that's relevant, but tbh, I'm a computer numpty.

Thanks in anticipation

Could it be that the IP address has changed?

Is this via the browser? Try via the iVMS software. It's much more reliable.

on the older hik recorders web browser viewing only works on internet explorer, because the plugin relies on activex, possibly you changed your default browser either deliberately, or a windows update forced edge on you.

As I said I'm a complete numpty, but I think we did change over to edge a couple of weeks ago.

I have a guy calling round tomorrow (hopefully), I'll mention this and let you know what he said.

The reason I posted here, is I thought it would be helpful to him if I showed him this thread to give him a few pointers to save time.

I suspect it's something to do with edge.

Very kind of you all to help. Thank you.

Edge is now based on Chrome which doesn't support NPAPI so it won't work

IE still works, you just need to make a shortcut to it.
