Does such a product exist and if so what would I search for?

I'm after a small frame (8/10/12" square/rectangular ish) that can sit in my MIL's lounge (hooked up to her wifi/internet) and my wife can them email/remotely configure messages on, such that when my wife want to remind her mum of a forthcoming appointment/call/message etc, my wife can write the message on her tablet and it gets 'sent' to her mums device and displays until it is removed or other action happens. It's to try and help with early onset dementia and loss of short term memory.

I was about to say it would be a useful little Raspberry Pi project for someone but it looks like someone is selling something similar -

MyHomeHelper

I searched for 'dementia message system' so have no idea if that's a suitable system.

thanks - makes sense to search for that! But eek £289.99 for one years use eek

It's got me thinking though - I have an 8" tablet (spare-ish), just need to be able to wake the screen up easily from afar (I use Teamviewer so that might work) and I could just remote in and put messages on that possibly????

Dave.

I'd go raspberry pi & an old monitor.

You should be able to add things to the calendar so they show as appropriate etc...

You are way overthinking this.
Just get her a Google Nest device with a screen.
Set it to show a certain folder of photos. That way you can choose what family photos she sees or type a message on a background save it and add to this folder.
Set her up with her own Google account and you can just add her to the event and have reminders, events, list etc appear on her screen at certain times/intervals.
Plus you can just ring her through it too.

That’s exactly what we did for the MiL for pet of her Christmas gift last year.

I have the google photos all sorted and drop a load of pics into a folder that her google home points to - simple and it keeps her occupied for hours.

Plus it’s still a full digital assistant etc...

Thanks all, turns out what I need is the free version of a Digital Sign such as - https://www.digitalsignage.com/ which I can upload / change / control my my laptop/computer and display various photos / videos / messages / clocks etc at will and will work with my redundant tablet - so nothing to buy.

I've managed to get it working on my old Win 10 8" tablet, now just trying to get back into an old Ipad and I'll give it a shot on that as well.
