Which small Android phone?
Discussion
My partner has an original 2017spec iPhone SE which is great but coming to the end of its life.
It also has a fairly low spec camera and doesn't appear to support WiFi calling which with signal in the house being poor is frustrating.
She would like a new phone, with a good camera, that isn't huge
I have a Samsung S10 which is lovely but huge to the point where even I can't reach the top menu and the curved screen is vunerable to damage and costs a fortune to replace, as me how I know!
Usage will be photos, calls, Google maps, browsing the web a bit. She's in EE afair.
So, is there a suitable modern replacement phone that's a good size?

I had this problem recently.
I narrowed it down to 4 phones.
Iphone SE, which you already have.
Iphone SE gen 2, too expensive for me.
Sony xz2 compact, which I thought was too expensive for quite an old phone.
Sony xz1 compact, I went for this in the end. Still £200 for a fairly old phone, but it does what I want.
Why does nobody make a small phone anymore?

Non XL model Pixels or the S10e are slightly smaller than a full fat S10. Is a 2020 iPhone SE too big?
When the prices come down the folding screen flip phones like Samsung Flip and Moto RAZR will be half the size of the current 5-6" screen flat phones and a bit thicker, but they need to get cheaper, reliable and waterproof first.

Got a lovely OLED screen, can accept a microSD card, Samsung own software smooth, lots of themes etc and only £200 or so .... you can save lots over the iphone and google phones listed above and the camera is going to be fine for the Mrs social media posts. All phone cameras are crap anyhow compared to proper cameras.

The obvious answer is if she's coming from the old iPhone SE - why not just upgrade to the latest version? It also has a fairly low spec camera and doesn't appear to support WiFi calling which with signal in the house being poor is frustrating.

The original iPhone SE does support WiFi calling as I use it on my old iPhone SE on 3 mobile.
I also love this phone for its size. Don’t like these huge ones nowadays but I haven’t been able to find a suitable replacement either so have just stuck with it. It could probably do with a new battery now but apart from that it’s still sound!

Some interesting suggestions.
Last time she just got another SE, so she has now had one for the past four years or so since they came out.
Nice enough phones, but as said, they are showing there age a little and the camera appears to be well behind newer phones.
Point taken about 'all phone cameras are rubbish' but actually the camera(s, all three of them) on the back of my S10 knock out a seriously respectable photo which is on a par with a pocket compact, and for say to day use very good. Where the iPhoneSE does struggle with getting good contrast etc.
I've had a look at the Samsung A## range before and was very tempted by I think the Galaxy A3 but the A41 appears to be as big as any other?
Maybe we just get a 2020 iPhoneSE, which appears to be smaller than some, and avoids the 'screen right to the top' issue which makes one-handing imposable.
Interesting she should be able to wifi calling on the current phone, not sure why that doesnt work then?

Have a read at the reviews of the 2020 iPhone SE - there's virtually no downsides for the money.
Seems a good nod in the direction. Including the camera?I struggle with the whole iPhone thing but she is used to their quirks and limited memory so that might work well if the camera is up to snuff.

Good review, appears it takes really quite good photos, nearly as good as iPhone 11 (non-Pro), with reviews saying the iPhone 11 pro takes better photos then my Samsung S10. So in short, should be good.It also solves the issues of migrating whatsapp and everything else from iCloud to GoogleDrive!
Looks like there are decent number still flogging the iPhone 7 (on which the SE 2020) is based but worth spending the area, and forking out for the 256gb version as well given the whole lack of SD card iPhone thing.
Coverage.
She is on EE and gets fairly poor signal in our house, I am on Vodaphone and it is great in the garden but only average in the house. It appears 02 have good coverage too. All much of a muchness for a reasonable urban area here on the top of the ridge running down the Wirral?

I would have been inclined to wait for a few days for the new iPhone 12 range as there is supposed to be a mini as part of the line-up.
The rumoured iPhone 12 Mini is 5.4" and the SE is 4.7"Quite a difference there, if size is important to you.
