Laptop & Monitors
Discussion
Need a spot of advice.
Got a Microsoft Surface laptop (not the tablet).
Only outputs are 1x USB 3 and 1x USB-C.
I want to run it as alnost a desktop - two monitors, one matching the laptop screen and the other an extension and also plug in a mouse and a keyboard.
I've already got a USB hub so all good for the mouse and keyboard. For the monitors, would any USB-C hub do the job?
Yes I know I can get a dock but they are extortionate conpared to a hub...
Thank you

You can get USB C -> HDMI adapters. They are an almost bodge - they don't use the GPU in the laptop, but force the CPU to do the work, so performance can be an issue - some people seem to run into this more than others, or their use causes it to be more noticeable.
AFAIK the surface laptop doesn't have any way of getting a "proper" display signal out other than the dock connector.
Some laptops have USB Cports that offers an alternate display port mode, but I don't believe that is true of the surface book unfortunately.
