Wait for the iPhone 12 to be announced, due sometime in September.
Hopefully that will mean price reductions across some of the other models.
If you’ve been happy to extend the use of your iPhone 5 for this long, I suspect the iPhone SE would be good enough for you.
The major noticeable differences in other models is generally the camera and memory capacity.

I would go for an SE personally .. its a great phone and at a great price.

Yes the 12 (12mini / 12 / 12pro variants) are incoming but that depends if you want a current flagship / near flagship handset.

The 11 is also a very good phone and there are some great deals on it at the moment with it being an outgoing handset.

I've just gone from a 5SE to one of the new SE's, I like smaller phones so was a bit apprehensive, the new SE is very good and much quicker, size wise it is ok, still a bit big for me but I can cope.

OP, i went from a 6S to the SE when they was first released a few months ago and love it. I didn't fancy paying for the top end one until they was 5G compat and we actually had a working 5G network, if you are happy with the size then get the SE. Go for the 128gb if you are going keep it for a few years

Is the iPhone 5s still supported by Apple in terms of software updates?

I have a 6s+ which has just accepted an IO14 update but I feel that maybe the last as it is now fast approaching 5 years old and that's Apple's product lifecycle pretty much.

Time to get a 12 soon.

Thanks, I feared as much. Luckily it's a work phone.

I briefly experimented with a visit to the Apple universe. Sold it pdq when I couldn't get it to communicate with anything.
