Hello there , I was looking for a plug in and play console with lots of old skool games.

It seems that the raspberry pi has most of the features I am looking for, but I really don't have the time/or know how, to build a system.

Does anyone know if I can buy this in a console type set up? Or have I overlooked any other options?

Cheers!

Android phone with BT controller and tv out?

Dolphin Emulator, SNES9x EX+ are ones I have on my phone and they work well. Not sure about the current state of MAME on Android though. You may be able to put them on an Amazon Firestick as well.

Well it’s a £35 Raspberry Pi with a fancy case, controllers and all the illegal downloading of ROMs done for you for £170. Seems expensive.

Expensive is a relative term.

Not interested in VFM but if they are any good, my fault should have been clearer.

Hmmmm, there are quite a few out there, probably want, maximum amount of games, easy to hook up, and possible download capability.

Willing to pay for the right one, though it probably will be a raspberry pi in a fancy case.

Does anyone own one they would recommend, thanks.

What's the legal situation with the games on these?

It seems a bit blatant if they are illegal and I'd have thought the publishers would want to get something for their back catalogue.

Just search for SD card, raspberry pi on eBay. Get a Pi starter kit from Amazon. Easy. Make sure the card is compatible with the Pi model bought.

Rather than pay someone £100+ to flash an SD card for you, have a look at the "arcadepunks" site for ready-to-go images.

NOTE - retropie, emulators and stuff are legal, using images of commercial games is not. Investments may fall as well as rise, your home may be at risk, etc.
