Engraving machine, what to buy?

No idea whether this is the right forum...
I need to engrave over thousand small, aluminium tags every year and I got fed up with paying other businesses to do it.
I want to buy an engraving machine and do it myself. It's a simple text, nothing complicated.
Any recommendations? Quick eBay browse showed several machines available from the UK for around £300. Do I need to spend more? What to look out for?
