I have a swann NVR, it looks very similar to a Hikvision underneath. I have the camera's dotted about the house using a couple of POE switches. The camera's are not directly in the back of the NVR. I cant seem to connect to the camera's, Can anyone see anything im blatantly doing wrong. Im sure this is something simple and it is an IP issue. I have messaged swann but unsure how long they will reply in current covid situation.
If i connect a camera in to the back of the unit it works, if it's over the network then the NVR cant see it.

What's the IP of the NVR? What is the IP of each camera? Are the cameras set to DHCP? Are the switches purely for CCTV or do they run other equipment? What is providing DHCP on your network?

This.

Also check that the NVR IP isn't in the DHCP pool being issued. If it's assigned somewhere else that would explain why it works when directly connected but not across the network.

You need the nvr on static IP and also the cameras on static IP too..

You’ll need to find the IP address is the cameras, log into the, and setup them up with static IP. Then add the cameras to the nvr

Presuming it’s similar to hikvision....
