Replacement for very old Sky router

Hi all

My FiL has had sky for a long time and has a very old router which runs very hot.

Can anyone recommend a good aftermarket replacement router with good wireless range.

Also, what is the procedure to use. Do we need to speak tk sky and get any passwords or codes?
