Hi all,

Looks like my 2012 model macbook Pro has decided it has had enough and will no longer turn on. Have tried tinkering with it but no joy, battery is charged and no change when plugged into mains power.

So, going to have another look in the next few days but if it is dead then what to replace it with for under £700?

A few criteria though:

Want to be able to use the 1tb ssd I have in my macbook in the new laptop (aware that if a windows machine will need reformatting etc).
Main uses are watching media, Internet, go pro and mavic air video editing.

So, any suggestions?

Cheers

Lma

I'd guess the 1TB drive is a 2.5" "Hard drive" shaped one rather than an M2 card?

That may push you towards "gaming" laptops or possibly a refurbished Thinkpad or similar, as the thinner lighter more portable machines will probably mostly have switched to the more compact M2 format.

Why restrict your choice of laptop just to accomodate an "old" SSD?

I'd put the "old" SSD in a caddy and use it as a quick external disk.

Thanks all, however all on hold as the macbook has sprung back to life!
