Hi, just wondering if anyone can help as I am trying to print in black and white with my Epson SX215 printer. I replaced the full set of ink a few weeks (only printed a couple of photos) but the colour cartridges have already ran out and I am trying to print in B/W, but for some reason the printer isn't allowing me to do this, and now it won't print at all now and comes up with an error message when trying to print.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you trying to print in "Black", ie not using colour inks at all?

What error message?

Screenshot would be helpful.

I had a 215 that died due to clogged heads... In fact the same thing happened to my previous 2 Epson printers.

I just bin them and buy a new one. The cost of the printer is usually around the same as the price of a genuine set of carts.

I run themi using cheap carts from Amazon till it dies.

I’ve recently purchased a cheapo HP to see if it lasts longer it does seem to be less prone to the print heads drying out and clogging up.

Apparently it's saying the magenta is gone. Yes I am just trying to print in black ink. I printed about 10 photos last weeks in full colour and I would've thought it would've lasted abit longer than that, and I got them from Tesco and they weren't cheap.

Pretty common for Colour Printers not to print if one of the Colour is empty.

You may be better off with a small Mono Laser and use Online/Store for any Photos you want printing.
I bought a £40 Brother Wifi Laser for my Parents. Cheap Toner and never clogs through lack of use.

The HP I had had to be left on all the time and it did a little dance every few days supposedly to keep everything working. It was still iffy though. Got a laser a while ago and it's amazing to just be able to turn it on and print straight off.

If you're mainly doing photos I think inkjet is better and note that injket photo paper doesn't work in lasers.
