We've just set up our new Vodafone braodband which came with free Apple TV+ and 12 months subscription.
Anyone know how to activate the free subscription so that it doesn't automatically link to my iCloud account and charge me?

You could set-up a separate iCloud account. Or just make sure you cancel before the next year starts, set yourself a reminder, that's what I've done.

Had it two weeks now and haven't actually watched anything.

As above - I've set it up on my iTunes account and set a reminder to cancel it next year.

We watched the morning show and I want to watch long way up - apart from that there isn't a great deal i want to see.

Is that it or am I missing something?

I've had Apple TV+ for a couple of weeks but only sat down last night to watch something for the first time. Opened up Apple TV on my Apple TV box, saw loads of shows and programmes and films, excellent I thought, lots to keep me occupied during the winter. Everything I tried to watch wanted to charge me a fee, diverted me to another platform etc. Kept asking me to sign into iTunes.

Is it only the Apple TV+ original programming that is 'free'? Or am I missing something? All I could find to watch was maybe a dozen films, a dozen series and documentaries. Is that it? Surely you get more for £4.99/m? I was expecting 100s/1000s of programmes, similar to what you get on Netflix

It’s a strange platform, I’ve only watched 2 things on there.

The Long Way Up : 3rd installment of their worldwide bike ride Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman travelling from the tip of South America to LA on Electric Harley Davidsons and the rest of the team in Rivian Electric Pickup trucks.

Defending Jacob : Some forgettable court drama.

Can recommend Ted Lasso. It shouldn’t work on multiple levels, but somehow does. Probably the most enjoyable thing I’ve watched this year.

So I'm not missing something? That is all you get then? Why would anyone pay £4.99/m for such minimal content?

You have to log into it with your itunes account otherwise how does it know you have a sub?
I agree though, I've had it for a while (free year with some idevice) and I've watched Greyhound and that's about it.
Foundation looks promising but not out yet and nothing else really appeals. I thought it was just me.
Most of the interesting looking stuff wanted more money.

I think Disney+ is in the same place, very little new/interesting content and I will bin both when the year is up.

Long Way Up is more tedious wittering about charging and much less about the journey. We know they are electric, they do not need to mention it every five minutes! I liked the others but struggling with this one.

The Apple TV interface is hideous (thought they'd struggle to make it worse than Prime but they managed). Stuff you have been watching disappears from the top. Took me an age to find LWU again this week until I realised (at least I think) that they disappear from Next Up when you have watched all the available episodes and will, presumably, reappear on Friday. For crying out loud, let me have a section of stuff I said I'd like to watch, I can work out if there are any episodes left. I will not be extending beyond the free year.
