Morning Gents. The Mrs has purchased a new iPhone. This is the first new phone she has ever had but unfortunately she is prone to dropping them !

It's purchased outright is Applecare worth a look ?

Already answered I'd say smile

Much better than having to stump up for the excess rather than the outright repair cost.

I'm assuming a rugged case isn't an option?

biggrin Rugged case ? Don't be offering such daft suggestions ! I'll do a bit of research to see how other insurance companies do but I must admit Applecare sounds like the easy option ....

It's not easy to find a price for it for the iPhone 11 without putting the serial in. Looks to be around £200 for 2 years ?

I have Applecare on my iPhone 12 Pro and there are excesses to pay (£75 for screen, £25 for other issues off the top of my head) but I have a Macbook Pro that is 2 years old and developed a screenfault back in September (extremely noticeable on white backgrounds).

It is still covered so I took it into Apple for them to look at. They checked it and confirmed that it needed a replacement display.

Total cost of the repairs - £552.06 (Display assembly was £483.06 [random price!] and labour was £69).

Cost to me - £0 (apart from driving to the Apple store and back twice).

I'd always take out Applecare+ on expensive devices as it does provide peace of mind on what are expensive purchases if you drop / damage them.

I’ve just taken the Applecare plus on my new iPhone 12 Pro. It’s £200 for 2 years (or £9.99 per month), and opposite of what I initially thought (& you by the look of it), it’s only £25 excess for screen and £79 for everything else.

Considering I would have thought the screen is the most easily damaged and fairly expensive to replace, it has the lower excess.

Apologies - you are right. I clearly was being cynical!

But I can't fault their support (you do pay for it...).

Is it worth checking if you have cover through your bank, have mobile coverage through my account, excess is still there but saves stumping another 200 quid!
