i posted a little while back about building a new PC. The consensus seemed to be that it's not a money saver and that to really only do it if it were something I'd be interested in doing (which I'm not).
I held off doing anything further because of the new graphics card releases - but have not started to look around.
i have around 2k to spend, and wondered if it's likely anything good would come up in the Black Friday sales , or if that's likely to be old stuff ?

I doubt any of the latest GPUs/CPUs will be offered at discount at all, as they can't get enough for full-paying customers as it is.

You may get a pre-built discount on last-gen stuff from PC World, PC Specialist, Dell/Alienware, Lenovo/Legion, etc.

Really depends on what you want, and what you intend to use it for...and in some cases the pre-builts are not as easy to upgrade down the line due to custom/cheap components used to save a few £££ (including one where I saw a motherboard cut to fit an Alienware case).

In any case, I'd start looking now and keep a track of the prices of ones you're interested in, as it's not unusual for already discounted models to be increased in price simply to show a nice discount on Black Friday.

Now is both a good and bad time to upgrade. Good because Ryzen 5000 Series, RTX 30 Series, and Radeon 6000 Series have just been launched. Bad because nearly everything is out of stock.

...and everything slightly spicy from the last gen seems to have gone up in price due to the ramping down of their production to support production of the new gen.
