Hi all, I wondered if anyone has managed to upgrade their Sky broadband to the new FTTP Ultrafast service from Sky? I've seen BT updating the infrastructure on my road but I still don't have the option on the Sky website to upgrade.

Is it actually live on BT yet ? Fttp tends to get built back to front where the customer end gets built first ( not the connection to the property) so infrastructure can be visible but not connected further back .

If I go to the BT website it seems to be available just not as a sky customer. BT also offers higher tiers of service up to gigabit connections. I should obviously just leave sky for BT but given I have sky tv etc it would be easier to stick with them.

BT have been in and out the road all summer and I upgraded to FTTP about 3 months ago. I am with BT

The FTTP on my street has recently been opened up for sky to sell ... however sky will only offer us upto 145mb dl speeds whereas BT/Zen etc. from the original FTTP provider list can offer upto 1gb speeds ... no idea how that works (or doesn’t as the case may be.

Cityfibre have been digging up the local area for months with purple pipes and cables everywhere (and better reinstatement than the green pipes of yore). Apparently Vodaphone, of all people, have first dibs so customers of other ISPs have to wait.

How does the final connection to the house work? As I live in a detached house which is set back from the street will they need to dig up my drive in order to lay an underground fibre cable right up to the house?

How it fed at the moment ? If overhead the new connection will be overhead , if underground there may be a duct that can be used , if no duct it will need to be dug up .

Sorry, I thought you were querying whether BT FTTP was live generally. I will keep my nose out

We had FTTP installed a few years back and BT were the only option. Every year I'd look to see if we could switch to Sky (to get a 'package' with TV etc.) but it was never available. Ended up switching to aquiss this year as it still wasn't available with sky (even though they were supposed to be rolling it out from the beginning of this year). Just checked on the openreach website and sky still aren't listed as a provider so I think you'll be waiting a while.....

(very happy with aquiss by the way, good customer service and easy to switch, and good prices)

Thanks, at the moment the phone connection comes in at the back of the house and I guess is underground as there are no overhead cables. I'll have to try and trace the external cable in the light tomorrow. Actually now I come to think of it we may have two seperate BT boxes in the house. One at the back that is currently active and one that we don't use at the front.

Thanks also for the feedback above on Sky. I may have to move over to another ISP and deal with tweaking Sky Q to make it work off another router/service.

Sky have only recently signed up to the bt fttp service , sky q will be no problem working over another isp network , i am on bt fttc with sky q .
