Smart Meter Possibly Affecting Phones & Wi-Fi Signal?
Discussion
We have used cordless phones in our house for years. Some time ago we started to get interference on the phone handset my wife uses in the kitchen and she also reported that the wi-fi signal to the laptop she uses in the kitchen would often drop out for no reason.
We lived with it and then a month ago, the phones got so bad that we figured they were just old and we replaced them. We still had the same problem with interference on the new phones.
Three weeks ago, the Smart Meter, that British Gas Installed about three years ago, went on the blink and they came and replaced a part. Since then, the Smart Meter has worked fine, but the cordless phone does not work in the kitchen.
We had been puzzling over why the phone was not working and then figured that the Smart Meter signal from the garage (which is adjacent to the kitchen) to the monitor (which is in the kitchen) could be interfering with the cordless phone signal and also affecting the wi-fi signal.
Does anyone have any experience of Smart Meters interfering with other signals and if so, what is the fix?
We thought about having the Smart Meter removed but BG want £245!
Any other suggestions?

If it's a SMETS2 meter then is uses the 3G network anyway, can't see how that would interfere any more than a mobile phone?
Connection from the smart meter to the display in the kitchen could cause interference, although as you say the connection from the meter to the energy company uses the mobile network. Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
