Any recommendations on a back system to Broadband?

We have Virgin which can be a bit flakey so want to explore what else we could use as a backup solution when this goes down

Cheers

I'm not sure that I understand the Q. What do you mean by Nano cell in this context?

Are you looking for a backup BB connection that you can switch to if your Virgin connection fails?
How separate would you want it to be?

I suspect that I'm not in a position to help, but would be interested to see suggestions.

I think the OP is a talking about a 4G hotspot device or other WiFi router that uses the cellular network for broadband.

Plenty of devices around, you can get some routers that allow a 4G usb stick to to be added for failover, trick is having a decent enough signal for good speeds.

Been pondering this myself, but 4G where I am is far from consistent - every possibility that it'd be down to carp speeds when my normal broadband is being problematic.

I have a similar situation with very unreliable broadband provided by OpenReach.

I run a security gateway with dual WAN ports, that can be configured either for load balance or for fail-over. BT router is connected to WAN 1, and a 4G router is connected to WAN 2. The gateway is then configured in fail-over mode. Fail-over disconnects my work VPN, but everything else works almost seamlessly.
