Just thrashing out some Nivana but every now and again it keeps "sticking". Doesn't normally do this! Could it be because of how loud it is? I'm not running lots of programes or anything.

It won't be because of how loud it is, are you playing it from CD or MP3? If CD it could be the drive is not buffering as it should, or if it's MP3 it could be that they are badly encoded / hdd buffering/access issues.

Typically this is down to lack of CPU available / something in the background taking some extra system resources temporarily.

Are you playing the 'legally purchased' mp3 of a local hdd, or from a USB pen type device?

If locally, you could always try defrag'ing the drive that the MP3 reides on, or just closing down some of the programs that you arent activly using (from the system tray)

You could always check whats using the CPU using task manager (Start...Run..taskmgr)

They're all legal!!! Mix of ways of obtaining them from burning from CD to being sent other people's songs. Some are even straight from the bands (yes people...I have connections!!! )

I closed all the programmes down as I did notice it was slightly worse when I got an annoying pop up, but still did it.

Try a different mp3 player (www.winamp.com is a good one) and see if it happens on there too. Was it just one song or is it all of them?

When you say 'annoying pop-up', was that from a website or is it spyware?

Maybe the hard drive is "busy" so cant deliver the stream to the audio player?

also, if you have a large number of tracks in your library and one of them becomes corrupt it can kill the performance of media player.. have a look through your library and make sure everything is shipshape...

Out of interest, how do I slow down the playpack speed on my PC for videos & songs; whatever media player I use they always run fast.
