Webcams have been in short supply since lock down (can't think why!)

Ordered a Logitech from Amazon, I don't remember it being 3rd party seller (in my excitement) but it was, only noticed when it didn't arrive next day

a week or so later a flimsy box covered in Chinese arrives with a Chinese instructions and what looks like a Logitech webcam in the box

Now, I'd prefer a UK version with English instructions as described on Amazon

I closed the box and thought it would be easy to send it back FOC same as anything else ...

A month later and many aggressive emails from the seller "this real serious problem with Amazon now!!"and I still have it here. He wants me to send the serial number so he can show it isn't a fake. I haven't said it is ...

What have I done wrong in the Amazon process and how do I just get a refund?

Did you contact Amazon directly (using the return option on the order) or did you contact the seller?

Everything I've had to return (whether sold by Amazon or not) has been returned without issue and usually the credit/refund is complete before I've even sent back the offending item.

Amazon directly - just asked to return as "not described" in that it should be a UK version

They just directed me to the seller

I strongly suspect it is fake, but have no evidence of that

I escalated and they've just sent me back to the seller who is getting more and more aggressive

It is unusual Amazon are just sending your to the seller.
Increase the severity of the claim with Amazon.

Yes, if the seller is not playing ball, get onto Amazon customer services and they will create you an A-Z case in a flash which will get your money back.
