An elderly relative of mine currently has a HUMAX box which is able to send an RF single to other TV's, I'm not sure how, whether inbuilt or via a SCART/HDMI to RF converter. The box is old and playing up. What's the easiest solution to be able to record programs and then watch on other TV's? Someone has mentioned Sky (I guess Sky Q, dunno, I've not got it!) but won't that work out expensive? The current box is Freesat so really only need whatever programs are available on that platform. We've got BT TV which is a Humax box but that doesn't have RF out so we can only watch on the TV it's attached to. I guess all I need to know is what is the easiest way to get multi room? The existing cables are RF which I guess restricts things a little, it's a bungalow so rewiring wouldn't be the end of the world but a bit of a PITA!! Thanks for any help.

Used / refurb version of the same box? Humax used to sell refurb stuff, I don't know if they still do or if the model is too old for that.

Scart or HDMI to RF modulator would work.

If you find out which model he currently has it might be possible to pick one up from ebay:

Those boxes are almost value less once a few years old.

It would be worth working out what box they've got and then just putting a like for like or possibly newer version in place. Should be less hassle and less issues going forward.

Thanks all, Podie, it has RF out in so much as it seems to be just an RF through? It doesn't actually output the boxes picture via RF?

My Humax is RF pass through, and plays what the box is "playing" via HDMI and SCART.

Another thought is HDMI over the existing RF cabling. The main problem seems to be all of the messing around with channels. If its HDMI both ends they could just leave all TVs on HDMI input. Idiot proof?!

You could do it and keep the remote control function with something like this:

Not cheap though, might be easier and cheaper just to have a freesat or freeview recorder in each room.
