Regular Dropped Connection - can you decipher my error log??
Discussion
Out internet has been unreliable and performing poor for quite a while.
Initially it was slow speeds and repeated dropped connections. BT did agree and sent an engineer out, couldn't find any issues, said he'd changed something in the green box at the bottom of the road and plugged us into a different something or other...
Anyway - speeds are now a bit better, actually within the numbers they quote for our cost.
However we are still getting regular drop outs, we had five over a four hour period last night. Now i'm quite happy to admit this could be something we're doing with our set up or it could be a BT issue or it could be a router issue.
Is it possible to decipher an error log to give an idea of what's going off?? - Any help gratefully received!

What have you got connected to your router? What sort of router is it?
It looks like something on your LAN is potentially misbehaving, 192.168.1.253. If you can see an attached devices or DHCP scope option check what has this IP address and maybe disconnect it.

Its a BT Home Hub 6.
Connected as in Hard wired to the router I think we have a Hive hub, a synology NAS a mesh system for wifi so the main unit for that is plugged in and also a powerline adapter that we run the Humax box off as the wireless was always a bit flakey.
Checking that IP address - it's the Humax box.
Possibly being caused by it being connected over the powerline adapter??

It caused all sorts of chaos on my network with outages, missing devices and poor mesh coverage. Once understood and sorted it transformed stability. This may not be your issue. but it was mine and putting one router into bridge mode sorts it.

The best use for any of the BT hubs is as a door stop.
Calling them junk is being kind.
What an absolute crock. They were often rated as the best isp supplied router available. Techadvisor.co.uk for example gives them 5 out of 5 stars...Calling them junk is being kind.
Once they are binned off and replaced with a decent unit, I never hear from people again.

The Hub - I don't know if it's good or bad - reviews are often favourable for them,

Good point - but have turned off the wifi on the router and just use the mesh system - as you point out double nat and restricted NAT was causing horrible issues - particularly on xbox

To be clear, turning off the wifi on the router is not enough. You will still have issues.
