My TP Link Archer D9 appears to be failing, so doing a bit of planning as to its replacement.

The Archer is in the loft (yes really, it’s the best signal from the telephone line for some reason) and has managed to cover the house over the first and ground floors, been happy with it since it was installed.

I know nothing about the Mesh style of distributing wifi around the house but a quick look at Currys shows the TP Link Deco M5 along with other choices.

I only have ADSL at the moment (no sign of Fibre at all), so will I need an ADSL modem to go with the Deco (or whatever model I buy) and if so will any old modem do is there a good one that is recommended?

Is there a mesh style router that comes complete with Modem ?

Anybody uses the TP Link can comment on it either way, or is there a better choice for about the same money?

I want stable, fast as possible coverage across the house (doesn’t everybody!) .

Can't comment on this specific product but I recently set up the tp-link AC1750 as my kids' consoles keep dropping the internet connection from the router.

I've tried a few options previously to no avail and thought I would try the AC1750 before looking at more expensive options.

It works like a charm and it's dual band and handle my kids consoles, iPads etc with aplomb.

Bought a TP-Link Deco M5 mesh 3-unit set only this week. Some folk on the Virgin Media community recommended putting the Superhub3 into modem mode and using them.
Been getting more and more hacked off about dead zones in our places and being lobbed off several zoom calls in recent weeks.
Our Virgin super fast 200Mbit often only 20-30 upstairs in the study even when it was working, despite TP-link extenders....some rooms would drop out more than they were in, despite being within 20m of the SH3 & our internal walls being regular 1990-style, not solid brick....

What a revelation!

Speeds almost everywhere now 150-200. Why didn’t I do this years ago!

Even at the limit of the garden, somewhere I rarely got a VM signal in the past, it managed 7-8Mb - I could add a fourth mesh to improve that if we wanted.
Can’t recommend them highly enough....although this IS only the 3rd day of ownership hehe

If you've only got ADSL speed, and coverage across the house with just the router is fine, does buying a mesh setup rather than a conventional combined router, ADSL modem and wifi AP actually gain you anything other than some new toys?
